AI Face Swap Online Free: Swap Faces in Photos

Every browser-based face swap follows the same pattern: a target photo, a source face and one click to generate. Here is the full process with FLUX FaceSwap.

1. 1Choose the target photo. This is the picture you want to change: a portrait, a group shot or a meme template. Faces that are visible, unobstructed and reasonably large in the frame swap best.
2. 2Choose the face photo. Use a sharp photo of the person whose face you want to insert, ideally taken from a similar angle and in similar light to the target.

A video face swap has to find and replace the face in every frame and keep it stable while the head turns, talks and moves through changing light.

That takes longer to process, and free tiers often restrict it: Magic Hour, for example, watermarks free video and GIF swaps but not free photo swaps, and Mobbi says its video swaps take 1 to 3 minutes against seconds for a photo.

FLUX FaceSwap is a photo tool. It does not replace faces inside existing video footage, and there is no video face swap model in the catalog. What you can do is animate a face-swapped still into a short 5 to 10 second clip. That creates new motion from a single image, which is not the same as swapping a face in a clip you already have.

If you need to swap a face in real footage, use a tool built for video. Among the tools in the current Google results for face swap, Magic Hour, Remaker, Vidwuz, Mobbi, faceswap.tech and Chroma Studio all list video face swap on their own pages. Check each one's free limits and watermark policy for video before you upload a long clip.

How to choose: pick FLUX FaceSwap if you want to put a face into an existing photo while keeping its lighting and resolution, then edit or animate the result in the same workspace. Pick Magic Hour if you want a few quick photo swaps with no account at all.

Pick Remaker if you need to swap faces across many images in one batch or move on to video. Pick Dreamina if you want to steer the swap with a text prompt and choose the model, aspect ratio and resolution yourself.

Pick Mobbi, Vidwuz, faceswap.tech or Chroma Studio if video or GIF swaps are the priority. Mobile apps on Google Play are another route; their free terms vary by app and are not covered here.

On free face swap plans, the limits are about volume, output and usage rights rather than the swap itself. Check five things before you upload:

• Volume: allowances come as credits or daily caps. Magic Hour states 5 free photo swaps per day, Mobbi says its free credits refresh every day, and on the FluxNote free plan 100 credits cover up to 33 FLUX FaceSwap renders at 3 credits each.
• Watermarks: these often differ by format. Magic Hour's free photo swaps carry no watermark, while its free video and GIF swaps do.
• Commercial use: free tiers are often personal-only. The free plan here is for personal and evaluation use, and paid plans add commercial rights for social posts, paid ads and client work. Magic Hour limits users without a purchase to personal, non-commercial use.
• Accounts: some tools work without signing up (Magic Hour's browser tool, and Remaker's free photo page says no sign-up), while others ask you to register before you get free credits.
• Faces per image: Remaker's free photo tool only works with single-face images, so a group photo may need a different tool.

If you plan to use a swapped image in an ad or a client project, confirm the plan's commercial terms first and get written permission from the person whose face appears in it.

The model blends what you give it, so the two input photos decide how convincing the result is. Check these before you upload:

• Match the angle. A face photographed head-on will not sit naturally on a head turned to the side. Pick a source shot with roughly the same turn and tilt as the target. FLUX FaceSwap handles three-quarter views, but its model page notes that extreme angles reduce accuracy.
• Match the light. If the target is lit from the left by warm sunlight, a source face lit from the right by a camera flash will show its edges. Similar light direction and color hide the seam.
• Use enough resolution. The face should be in focus and fill a good part of the source frame. Because the output keeps the target's resolution, a sharp target matters as much as a sharp face. Upscale a soft photo with an AI photo enhancer before swapping.
• Keep the face clear. Sunglasses, hands and hair across the eyes hide the features the model needs, and the model page lists heavy makeup as a known accuracy limit.
• Match the expression. A wide open smile swapped onto a neutral face tends to look stretched. Choose a source with a similar expression and mouth shape.
• Inspect before sharing. View the result at full size and check the hairline, jaw, teeth and the color step between face and neck.

The legal and ethical risk depends on what a swap shows and how you use it. These are the rules that matter most in 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.

• Intimate deepfakes are a federal crime in the US. The TAKE IT DOWN Act (Public Law 119-12, signed May 19, 2025) makes it a federal crime to knowingly publish non-consensual intimate images of an identifiable person, including AI-made 'digital forgeries' that look authentic. Penalties reach 2 years in prison for offenses involving adults and 3 years for minors. Covered platforms had one year to set up a process that removes such images within 48 hours of a valid request, and the FTC enforces it.
• The EU requires deepfakes to be labeled. The European Commission says the AI Act's transparency rules came into effect in August 2026 and that deepfakes should be clearly and visibly labeled. A ban on AI systems that generate non-consensual sexually explicit content takes effect in December 2026.
• Platforms have their own rules. YouTube requires creators to disclose realistic AI content that makes a real person appear to say or do something they didn't. Google lets people request removal of fake sexual images of themselves from Search results.
• Tool terms apply too. FluxNote's terms of service prohibit deepfakes of real individuals without their consent and prohibit impersonating any person.

A safe default: only swap faces of people who have said yes, never create sexual or intimate images of anyone, never use a minor's face, label realistic swaps when you post them, and get written permission before using anyone's likeness in advertising.

A face swap edits a photo that already exists.

The scene, pose, clothes and lighting stay the same and only the face changes.

That suits jobs like borrowing a person's eyes-open shot when they blinked in an otherwise good photo, putting a friend into a movie poster with their permission, or trying a different spokesperson's face on a scene you have already shot.
