15 credits/month, supporting up to 15 minutes of avatar video. Includes access to standard avatar library (150+ avatars), 300+ voices, and basic customization. The Creator plan is the entry point for solo content creators.

Team plan ($89/month per seat monthly, $79/month annually)

Includes collaboration features, brand kits, shared asset libraries, and advanced avatar customization. Multiple seats required for agencies.

Instant Avatar (custom avatar from your face/likeness)

15 credits on Creator

translates to 15 minutes of video per month — roughly 15 one-minute Shorts, or 3–5 longer videos. For creators posting daily or near-daily, this limit is reached in two weeks.

Avatar quality varies by tier.

Standard library avatars (Creator plan) are good but generic. If you want a custom avatar trained on your own face and voice, the Instant Avatar feature (photo-realistic, lip-synced to your voice) requires additional setup and cost. The gap between standard and custom avatar quality is significant.

HeyGen's strongest use cases

Product demos, corporate training, multilingual content (HeyGen can translate and lip-sync videos into 40+ languages while keeping the avatar's appearance), and marketing explainers. The translation feature — automatic video translation with matching lip movements — is genuinely unique.

What Creator plan does NOT include

Unlimited video generation, custom avatar creation, API access, 4K output, or team features. The 15 credits/month cap is the defining constraint at this tier.

Credit rollover

Unused credits do not roll over to the next month. If you generate 10 videos in a slow month, the remaining 5 credits disappear.

Credit burn rate is faster than it looks.

HeyGen charges credits per minute of output video. A 2-minute product demo costs 2 credits. A 5-minute training video costs 5 credits. On Creator plan (15 credits), you can produce 15 one-minute videos OR 3 five-minute videos — but not both.

Instant Avatar creation costs extra.

Building a photo-realistic custom avatar from your own photos requires a paid Instant Avatar process that is separate from your monthly plan cost. Expect $29–$199 for this one-time creation step.

Language translation costs additional credits.

HeyGen's video translation feature (translating a video into another language with matching lip-sync) consumes credits at the same rate as original generation. Translating 10 minutes of content into 5 languages costs 50 credits — more than 3 months of Creator plan allocation.

No stock footage sourcing.

HeyGen generates avatar talking-head segments. If you want background visuals, B-roll, or animated callouts alongside the avatar, you need to bring those in manually or use another tool.

Watermark on free exports.

Free plan videos include a HeyGen watermark. Creator plan removes it.
